Welcome to Baby and Me Yoga Class: Tuesdays 11am to 11:45am
I had the chance to participate in one of these classes and it was so much fun! I honestly didn’t know babies could learn yoga, but much to my surprise, babies as young and 12 weeks old can start classes here at Universal Spirit Yoga. I told the teacher, Sherri, that I wish there was something like this when my son was young and she laughed because she said all the parents say that! So, I thought the parents who are interested in something like this would like to hear a little bit more about this program.
We hope you enjoy the video and please don’t forget to subscribe and comment below, we love the feedback.

Baby And Me Yoga: This class will contain many unique yoga postures all designed to support baby’s development mentally and physically. Each class is also filled with calming and nurturing ways to bond, improve sleep, and aid in digestion. During class babies enjoy yoga on their backs, tummies, and in loving arms. Occasionally we will use props such as bolsters for tummy time too.
For parents this is a class to enjoy and spend time with other like minded parents, get support and advice from other mothers and fathers, a time to share milestones, learn about your babies emerging personality, and just take a break from the outside world to bond with your little one. Class sizes are kept to a minimum so there is always a close and loving energy in class.
Most yoga done in class is for baby, but you will learn some basic breathing and relaxation techniques. No previous yoga experience is required.
For every posture learned in class we have a variety of songs. Songs can help in many different ways:
1) Brain Development (singing uses more language centers in the baby’s brain than words).
2) Communicates respect with baby.
3) Sets tempo of movements.
4) Repetition and predictability.
5) Awakens our inner child as parents.
6) Reflects contentment 9while singing endorphin levels may rise).
7) Auditory vibration such as singing, chanting or humming impact all the major organs of the body. This happens because the Vagus Nerve wanders down from the inner ear and then connects with the larynx, heart, lungs, stomach, liver, bladder, kidneys, and intestines. The sounds associated with these vibrational actions are said to massage your inner body releasing stress or tensions, clearing stagnant energy, while also deepening your breath.
Practicing and learning yoga with your baby is a great opportunity to encourage free range movement and helps to prevent a sedentary lifestyle. This is a very precious time in both you and your babies life and we are happy to be a part of it.
